In Japanese, Tsubo simply means "vessel." These forms are a study in history, inspired by the pottery of Japan’s Yayoi era (300 BC – 300 AD). I was moved by the modern, minimal silhouettes created over 2,000 years ago, and I felt compelled to trace those same lines with my own hands.
Each piece spent 72 hours in the anagrama kiln and cooled slowly for a full week, capturing a permanent record of the 1300°C heat and the falling ash.
While they have a strong sculptural presence as ornamental objects, they are fully watertight and suited for use as a vase.
